Clicking on Pop Up Ads Leads to Credit Card Charges

Jul 18th, 2008 | By Rob | Category: Uncategorized

I thought that pop up ads went the way of the dinosaurs.  And even if they didn’t they were a relatively harmless, if simply annoying, cost of surfing the web.  But it turns out that some consumers are paying for clicking on a pop up ad.

The Press of Atlantic City reported that credit card numbers were shared with a popup marketing company by websites where they purchased goods and the consumers were subsequently charged for membership services.  Just goes to show that taking the time to review your credit card statements can save you money!
