Representative Peter Welch (D-Vermont) said that the Credit Card Bill of Rights has bipartisan support and that he expects it to pass, according to WCAX-TV News. This is in contrast to previous reports from others who were less optimistic about the prospects of meaningful Congressional legislation on credit card reform. Nevertheless, it is good to hear.

The San Diego Union-Tribune has a list of a few other measures under consideration by Congress in its deliberations over credit card reform.
The measures include:
Restrictions on marketing to college students and those under 21 years of age.
7 percent limit on penalty interest rate increases.
Ban on fees for paying by phone or when using the internet.

The News Journal has an article aptly titled Critics call proposals ill-timed as banking industry already struggling. The Credit Cardholders’ Bill of Rights. Under consideration in the House of Representatives, this bill has 110 co-sponsors.
